TuftdTales is a small, independent mother -and-daughter business, based partly in York, United Kingdom, and Sydney, Australia. Together, we share a love for textiles, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

Our Ethos

We create in small batches, using reclaimed materials and traditional handcraft techniques. This allows us to honour the time, care, and individuality behind each piece - rather than chasing trends or mass production.
Spanning York and Sydney, our mother-and-daughter studio is built on connection, creativity, and collaboration across continents. Every bag reflects our belief that sustainability and beauty can coexist, and that what already exists can be transformed into something extraordinary.
Our sustainable approach
Sustainability is at the heart of Tuftd Tales. Every bag is created using carefully sourced, reclaimed materials - chosen not only for their beauty, but for the story they carry. By repurposing what already exists, we create meaningful pieces while reducing waste.
Reclaimed denim
Our denim is sourced from second-hand and charity shops, giving pre-loved fabric a new life. Each piece brings its own texture, wear, and character - ensuring no two bags are ever the same.
Recycled Canvas
Our canvases are made from repurposed coffee, oyster, and grain sacks. Once used for transport and storage, these sturdy materials now form the foundation of our tufted artworks - celebrating imperfections and history.
Recycled Wool
The tufted designs are created using unravelled wool jumpers and reclaimed wool sourced from charity and second-hand shops. This process allows us to transform forgotten garments into tactile, expressive textures.
Thoughtfully Lined
Each bag is fully lined using largely reclaimed curtain lining fabrics, sourced second-hand. Durable and practical, these linings add strength while continuing our commitment to conscious design.
